3,000 towers coming up in Dubai
About 3,000 towers will come up in Dubai between now and 2025 and as of now they are in various stages of planning and development, said a report.
Some 200 towers are coming up in Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers, a few hundred each in Dubailand, Dubai Waterfront and Jumeirah Village South in addition to about 850 commercial and 1100 residential towers planned in Dubai World Central, according to the Gulf News report.
This rapid development has alarmed some experts, considering Dubai’s limited land area of 4,114 sq km and population of around 1.4 million, it said.
Taking all this into account, the high number of towers are a matter of grave concern, they feel, when compared to other cities like New York which boasts about 5,500 high-rise towers.
