UAE plans to introduce unified rules for visit visas to all emirates
The Federal Naturalisation and Residency Department (FNRD) in the Ministry of Interior is studying the procedures for issuing visit visas and the documents required for the same in each emirate in a bid to unify them, said a top official at the ministry.
Brigadier Nassir Al Awadi Al Menhali, Acting Director-General of the FNRD, said that the department has started studying the procedures and will unify them and the documents required across the country. "For instance, we received complaints about some NRDs demanding additional documents such as copy of the tenancy contract as a prerequisite for issuing visit visas which are not required in Abu Dhabi," said Brig Al Menhali.
Some people who had left the country for Kish have returned after getting new visit visas from Dubai. This is not allowed in Abu Dhabi, he said, pointing out the discrepancies in the rules followed by NRDs in different emirates. "The unified rules should be very clear for the public and each NRD in the country should abide by them, the requirements and fees. Individual NRDs have the right to provide more services to facilitate work at their counters but they must comply with the federal rules," added Brig Al Menhali.
